Marvel Studios’ New X-Men Film: Everything You Need to Know

A lot is happening right now at Marvel Studios, and fans have plenty to be excited about. Recently, Marvel announced a strategic shift: Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will now focus solely on the movies, stepping back from deep involvement in Marvel’s TV series. This move echoes the studio’s pre-Infinity Saga approach and will shape the future of the MCU as we head into Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day, Secret Wars, and beyond, including the highly anticipated new X-Men film.

Jake Schreier in Talks to Direct the New X-Men Movie

According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier is in early talks to direct Marvel’s new X-Men film. Following the success of Thunderbolts, Schreier has emerged as the top choice to helm what is expected to be one of the most significant projects in the MCU's upcoming slate.

Michael Lesslie (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) is confirmed as the screenwriter for the film, with Kevin Feige producing.

Fans of Thunderbolts will remember Schreier’s dynamic direction, especially the spectacular fight scene between Sentry and the rest of the Thunderbolts team at the old Avengers Tower. That scene has been praised as one of the best MCU fight sequences in years. Schreier also skillfully handled deeper themes such as trauma and mental health in Thunderbolts, showing he’s capable of balancing action with complex emotional storytelling. This bodes well for potential storylines in the X-Men film, like the iconic love triangle between Jean Grey, Scott Summers, and Logan (Wolverine).

How Will the New X-Men Fit Into the MCU?

Importantly, the upcoming X-Men film will feature an entirely new team, distinct from the X-Men characters currently being filmed for Avengers: Doomsday. That film will showcase the return of the original X-Men from Fox’s X-Men franchise, including:

  • Patrick Stewart as Professor X
  • Ian McKellen as Magneto
  • James Marsden as Cyclops
  • And potentially Halle Berry as Storm and Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, though not officially announced yet.

As for the new X-Men, it remains uncertain whether they will appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. Given that Secret Wars is expected to feature Battleworld—a patchwork planet formed from various universes—there is a possibility that the new X-Men could make their debut there as variants from other universes.

When Will the New X-Men Movie Release?

Marvel Studios has two untitled release slots in 2027 following Avengers: Secret Wars (scheduled for May 7, 2027):

  • July 23, 2027
  • November 5, 2027

Industry insiders believe one of these dates is reserved for the X-Men movie, which is poised to be a centerpiece of the next MCU era—the Mutant Saga. Kevin Feige has already confirmed that Marvel’s post-Secret Wars focus will be on mutants and the X-Men.

There’s also speculation that Thor 5 could occupy one of these dates, as recent reports suggest Thor’s story will continue beyond Secret Wars.

What Does the Future Hold?

With Jake Schreier likely directing and Michael Lesslie writing, the new X-Men film already has a solid foundation. Even though exact details about casting and plot remain under wraps, it’s clear that Marvel is gearing up to make the X-Men a key part of the MCU's future. Whether or not we see teases of the new team in Secret Wars, fans can expect their full introduction shortly after the multiverse reset.

Summary & Review of Final Destination: Bloodlines

Final Destination: Bloodlines is a late but surprisingly lively return to a franchise that has been dormant since Final Destination 5 in 2011. Despite the long gap and an evolving horror landscape, Bloodlines reestablishes itself with a bang — literally and tonally — leaning harder into comedy than any previous installment in the series while still delivering the brutal, elaborate death sequences that fans expect. Opening & Tone: The film opens with a dazzling extended prologue set in the 1960s, following a couple's ill-fated night atop the “Sky View” (think Space Needle). This sequence is meticulously crafted with tongue-in-cheek suspense, foreshadowing, and spectacularly over-the-top deaths. Co-directors Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky set the tone early: this is going to be stylish, darkly comedic, and gleefully gory. Comedy-Horror Fusion: What sets Bloodlines apart is how much it embraces horror comedy , evoking filmmakers like Sam Raimi ( Drag Me to Hell , Evil ...
